When an older person shares their story, you sit up and listen right? You try to soak up some of that wisdom. Wisdom that’s come from years of living life, experiencing it’s ups and downs and coming out the other side. This is exactly what Maya Angelou offers within this book, buckets of it.

To caveat, I’m not talking about what women want from their jobs, from their bodies or from their overall self progression…maybe next time. This post is about what women want from men specifically in this day and age.
So who remembers the film? Handsome Mel Gibson fighting for the affection of gorgeous Helen Hunt, played out to the perfect soundtrack of Frank Sinatra. I loved ‘What Women Want’ when it came out. Mel’s temporary ‘superpower’ was that he could read women’s minds, he went from being perceived as an overbearing macho sleaze, to a sweet, sensitive heart-throb, with just the right level of seductive prowess. About five years ago if you’d told me some of my mates would be entering body-building competitions this summer – I’d have probably laughed! Not because body-building is something embarrassing or weird, but because I couldn’t have envisaged any of my girly-gals getting into it. It just wasn’t a mainstream thing back then.
However, in the last few years there seems to be an increasing number of women who not only want to get ripped, but flex their muscles on the big stage too. ‘Strong not Skinny’ has gone global, and lots of us seem to want a slice of the protein pie!
