Maya Angelou – Letter to My Daughter

When an older person shares their story, you sit up and listen right? You try to soak up some of that wisdom. Wisdom that’s come from years of living life, experiencing it’s ups and downs and coming out the other side. This is exactly what Maya Angelou offers within this book, buckets of it.

What do women want…in 2018

To caveat, I’m not talking about what women want from their jobs, from their bodies or from their overall self progression…maybe next time. This post is about what women want from men specifically in this day and age.

So who remembers the film? Handsome Mel Gibson fighting for the affection of gorgeous Helen Hunt, played out to the perfect soundtrack of Frank Sinatra. I loved ‘What Women Want’ when it came out. Mel’s temporary ‘superpower’ was that he could read women’s minds, he went from being perceived as an overbearing macho sleaze, to a sweet, sensitive heart-throb, with just the right level of seductive prowess. He was the bad boy you couldn’t help falling for in the end….exactly the same way Helen Hunt does in the movie.

But what does the 2018 woman REALLY want in a man, and is she being totally honest about it?

UC and Tequila Slammers

For me and I expect for most people with UC, each morning brings a series of firsts and the nervousness that comes with them.

Let me explain:

  1. The first poo or loo visit – Will it hurt? Will there be blood?
  2. The first few hours of the morning – Will there be cramps? Or bloating? Or urgency?
  3. The first meals of the day – Will there be cramps? Pain or sickness and anxiety?

Not the ‘leap out of bed and sing to the birds through the window’ style of morning which I’m sure we’d all love, but none the less – a day without any of those signals is as good as any.

Naked ambition in 2016

It makes me feel REALLY old to say this, but why can’t women (especially in the eye of the media) make a statement with their clothes ON anymore?

There has been so much ‘blahh’ in the press lately about the reasons why women are choosing to post naked pictures of themselves and share them with the world, that I felt the need to address this topic and explore the ‘trend’ further…

Ripped Girls – gone mainstream

About five years ago if you’d told me some of my mates would be entering body-building competitions this summer – I’d have probably laughed! Not because body-building is something embarrassing or weird, but because I couldn’t have envisaged any of my girly-gals getting into it. It just wasn’t a mainstream thing back then.

However, in the last few years there seems to be an increasing number of women who not only want to get ripped, but flex their muscles on the big stage too. ‘Strong not Skinny’ has gone global, and lots of us seem to want a slice of the protein pie!
